The South Main Arts & Parks Trust is proud to host another year of free live music at The BEACH! Each year the bands get better and the crowds get bigger. This year’s line-up is composed of red hot talent from the swamps of South Carolina to the mountains of Leadville, CO. The events will be every Saturday in July and August! Vendors will be open at 5pm with a delicious array of food and drinks. Music will begin at 6pm. Below are  the bands performing in August. Check them out and gear up for another amazing summer of music in Buena Vista!

August 2nd – The HillBenders

This dynamic bluegrass quintet hails from Springfield, MO.  Since their formation in 2008, high-octane shows, tight harmonies, and stunning instrumental prowess have created dedicated HillBender fans at every festival they play. The HillBenders released their newest CD “Down to My Last Dollar” in 2013 and are excited to announce their first European tour slated for early 2015!

Jerry Garcia Tribute with Chris Thompson and Coral Creek – August 9th

CHRIS THOMPSON & CORAL CREEK put on a high-energy acoustic/electric show, featuring original material in the rock, reggae, country and bluegrass genres. The CORAL CREEK line-up is the real deal, including top players from the Colorado music scene, such as Jim Allard on bass, RT Weber on drums, Stef Briggs on keyboard, Dennis Johnson on guitar and David Reid on saxophone. Members of Coral Creek have been honored to perform with distinguished musicians including Bob Weir, Vince Welnick and Tom Constantin (Grateful Dead), Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), Bill Nershi and Keith Moseley (The String Cheese Incident), Buddy Cage (New Riders of the Purple Sage), Rob Eaton (Dark Star Orchestra), Jeff Pevar (Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, CSN), Rob Wasserman and other great players. A musical line-up you would be wise not to miss.

The Acoustic Mining Company – August 16th

The Acoustic Mining Co. is a red-hot bluegrass act that started in Denver’s folk rich music scene. Their distinctive power picking style, songwriting, and musical arrangements will remind listeners of bands such as Yonder Mountain, New Grass Revival, Hot Rize, and The Infamous Stringdusters. The bass thumps, the banjo sings, and complete mastery of their instruments guarantees audiences a night of care free fun, laughter and dancing.

Bonfire Dub – Aug. 23rd

Bonfire Dub plays a deep and powerful blend of acoustic laced and electric / pedal steel driven down-tempo, reggae, folk and dub. Their focus is original music and travel inspired roots melodies. Bonfire’s lyrical repertoire is inspired from eastern philosophy, indigenous struggles, political injustice, international relief efforts and a deep respect for the roots of love and the balance of nature. Bonfire’s founder, Scotty Stoughton, interweaves stories of hope and struggle, derived from his humanitarian aid experiences in regions such as Central America and Haiti.

Katie Glassman and Snapshot – Aug. 30th
Denver belle Katie Glassman leads her western swing quartet SNAPSHOT with vintage singing, champion fiddling, and an oldtime song-writing style. As a two- time national fiddle champion and the winner of the 2013 Walnut valley and Rockygrass fiddle competitions Katie’s list of accolades is too long to list. Katie shape shifts from western swing to old time fiddle tunes with her stellar swing band. Her contemporary compositions showcase her deep roots in Texas-style western swing.
