The South Main Arts & Parks Trust is proud to host another year of free live music at The BEACH! Each year the bands get better and the crowds get bigger. This year’s line-up is composed of red hot talent from the swamps of South Carolina to the mountains of Leadville, CO. The events will be every Saturday in July and August! Vendors will be open at 5pm with a delicious array of food and drinks. Music will begin at 6pm. Below are  the bands performing in July. Check them out and gear up for another amazing summer of music in Buena Vista!

2014 BEACH Line-up!

Shannon Whitworth – JULY 4th

Shannon Whitworth is a contemporary singer-songwriter whose music straddles the lines between pop, country, folk, and other traditional music scenes, landing her squarely within the realm of what’s typically considered Americana. In 2013 Starbucks added her newest album ‘High Tide’ to its worldwide playlist where her down-to-earth lyrics and soulful delivery have gained her much deserved national attention. As a top tier musician from the South East, this is a very rare opportunity to see her play in Buena Vista!

Leadville Cherokee – JULY 5th
Leadville Cherokee is an up and coming alternative rock band from Leadville, Colorado. Their style incorporates a variety of important musical genres and tones ranging from rock, reggae, bluegrass, jam, folk, funk, hip-hop, alternative, and blues. They’ve built a rowdy following in the mountain towns of Colorado and continue to impress audiences throughout the state. Leadville Cherokee is in the process of recording their first full-length album and currently have a self-titled, 5 track, EP they released in 2013. They were a smashing success last year and we are excited to have them back!

Trout Steak Revival – JULY 12th

Trout Steak Revival won the band contest at the 2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Does one need to say more? This  Denver based roots quintet has evolved into one of Colorado’s most tightly knit, hard-driving bluegrass bands. From sweat-soaked clubs to frosty mountain festivals, the five-piece has shown a tenacity for quick-picking and all the right polish without sacrificing the raw feeling of well-executed bluegrass. Performing to sold-out audiences, winning the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition, and even winning an Emmy Award for a soundtrack with Rocky Mountain PBS, has placed Trout Steak Revival at the forefront of the bluegrass scene. With an eye on traditions of the past while boldly forging into new territory, Trout Steak takes us back to memories of whiskey, laughter, and the misty high country where the band was born.

Honey Don’t  - JULY 19th

Honey Don’t is the musical union of Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, a duo also well known as one-half of Paonia, Colorado’s old-time bluegrass band, Sweet Sunny South. Their music may be delivered acoustic or electric and is based in the folk tradition with bluegrass and old-time at its deepest roots.  Bill is a well respected, and award winning songwriter within and beyond the Colorado circuit and Shelley is a skilled bass player and vocalist.  They’ve been making music together for well over a decade and like a fine wine or exceptional bourbon, the best of their qualities have naturally distilled into a truly unique vibe with a certain sound and feel that has developed into a trademark.

Fox Street All Stars – JULY 26th

Make no mistake: the Fox Street Allstars resonate with the Deep South roadhouses and West Texas honky-tonks that inspired their signature sound. FSAS is a roller coaster of roadhouse blues interwoven with a super-sized helping of funk, rock, soul, and jazz. No one really has any idea where front man Jonathan “Skippy” Huvard channels his soulful, whiskey soaked vocals and frenetic stage presence but the result is a blistering powerhouse of soul and sound you don’t want to miss!
