Free Live Music and Beer on the bank of the Arkansas River at the BEACH… the first project by the South Main Arts and Parks Trust; a new non-profit started by the founders of South Main. This entity had been planned since the inception of the neighborhood in 2003. The nonprofit has secured long-term funding through the South Main Master Deed Restrictions to fulfill the mission. In the beginning of South Main, the developers were the ones who took the initiative to donate the river park, write grants, pledge matching funds and bring projects like the whitewater park, boulder garden and outdoor living room to the Town. However, the founders knew that there needed to be an organization to sustainably continue awesome projects like these into the future. To make that happen they formed the South Main Arts and Parks Trust to bring art, culture and world class recreation to the neighborhood and town.
Last year the BEACH held 7 Saturdays of free live music. This year the scope has been a bigger and is growing. The SMAPT hosted two nights of live music for Paddle Fest, as well as a night of music for FIBArk. The main focus this year is a series of 17 bands on 12 days throughout the summer. Although the SMAPT hosts the events and is powered by volunteers, it is a community wide effort, supported by 23 local sponsors including our title sponsorship from the Elevation Beer CO. The shows are every Saturday in July and August as well as one special night with the Haunted Windchimes on August 9th. All BEACH events are from 5 – 10pm, the music is free, the food is awesome and the sand is fun for the whole family. Come down to the BEACH, feel the love and dance until your heart’s content!
