“I felt like I could have been anywhere,” Kennley told me, referring to the jalaBlu workshop with Andrew Rivin this weekend. Having grown up in Buena Vista, Kennley has as good a sense as any of the cultural shifts taking place here. “We had over 40 people in both the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions,” the fabulous Jenna of jalaBlu told me. “Sunday we had 38 people. People came from Denver, Glenwood Springs, Salida, Buena Vista, the Vail area… the sweetness of the weekend is that it was nothing but love. Everyone who did the workshops got to know new people from different areas. Andrew is such an amazing speaker too. What he says in the beginning and how he intertwines it with the practice and life…. it was a healing experience for people. And that’s why everybody should do yoga ”

Andrew Rivin is an anusara-certified instructor based out of Arizona. “His 21 years of practice, his MBA from Yale and his experiences initiating micro-enterprises in Africa, Asia and Latin America have given him a unique and well-rounded life perspective.” Jenna first connected with Andrew when she studied with him in Thailand and Indonesia.
“There are so many new things that are igniting in this town, jalaBlu being one of them” says Jenna. “There was so much going on this past weekend. It was really cool.”
And Jenna is committed to continuing to bring well known yoga practitioners to Buena Vista. On January 8th, she will host a workshop with Jamie Allison, an Anusara-certified instructor living in Howard, CO. She and her husband are going to do 2 sessions plus an hour kirtan session, which is a form of devotional chanting. Thank you Jenna for all that you’re bringing to this town! And thank you to Kennley for taking these wonderful photos this weekend.
