Thanks to the Abdelnours of The Clocktower Flat and Foresight Multimedia for producing this great little video of the LoDo Wave at low water.

Here’s a write-up I did on the wave for Colorado Kayak Supply: The “LoDo Wave,” short for “Lower Downtown,” is located at the South Main Town Square and is among the best man-made waves out there. It’s a dynamic wave-hole where intermediate to advanced playboaters will have a blast working on their wave moves. At low to medium flows (600-1,600 cfs), the wave is a forgiving with plenty of recovery time in the large pool below the wave. Above 2,000 cfs, you’ll need to be more on your toes and the wave becomes more of a wild ride. Be aware that BV falls is below the LoDo pool, so have a look downstream before hopping in.

Start at the Uptown or Midtown features and float down for an easy walk back up to the car. Or you can park and play at the wave by driving into South Main. From CKS, drive down East Main Street towards the river, turn right onto South Main Street at the Community Center, then follow South Main St into the the neighborhood. At the first stop sign, turn right, then hang a left onto Front Loop at Eddyline Brewpub. There is parking on the right the length of Front Loop immediately adjacent to the LoDo Wave.

Below 2,000 cfs, the wave can be caught from good eddies on both sides of the river. At all flows, the river left shoulder is the easiest place to surf, spin and set up. This is an excellent place to learn how to blunt, and left blunts go really nicely here. Hole moves are available, including sky high loops. All in all this is a rare wave in a state full of great playholes, so come check it out!

Outstanding wave-hole for spins, blunts, air screws, loops, etc. Beginner to advanced below 1,000 cfs, intermediate to advanced 1,000- 2,500 cfs.

haha… isn’t it? The other day when he was watching me in the staircase hole, he said “Go papa” and then “Nice!’ when I did a trick :-)
